I’ll take my fries with a side of glam: Aqua Nett & Counterbalance on New Year’s Eve

Fleur the Kiwi

The legend of Aqua Nett is that there were originally six members in the band: Roxxy Blaze on vocals, Axel Greece on keyboard, Juan Moore on bass, Dizzy Hieghts on drums, Gash on lead guitar, and Johnny Depp on guitars. Johnny Depp was let go because he was not good looking enough. By 1986, with their gritty LA metal sound, and their strikingly androgynous good looks, AQUA NETT had climbed the ranks to become LA’s premier hair metal band, selling out venues on the Sunset Strip and elsewhere, and were soon signed on to Glitter Pussy records….

And the legend gets better from there …

The denizens of the bustling Sonoma County metropolis of Petaluma turned out in force on New Year’s Eve to see Aqua Nett and their alter ego Counterbalance at The First Edition, the kind of bar that has women’s pool league on Monday nights and country night (with free nachos!) on Thursdays. If someone there on New Year’s Eve didn’t have a great time, I don’t know who they were!
