Suzanne Slair of hard-rockin’ band Glyscian sent her written answers to the Heart of Rock questions. Stay tuned for a full-length interview with Suzanne, in which she talks about giving up opera for a life in rock music, the whirlwind of NAMM, the adventures of shooting the video for Glyscian’s single “2 Close 2 Brake” in the heart of Texas (scene: an outlaw town run by women with chains), and the joys of playing a custom-made Buddy Blaze guitar. Glyscian’s song “Awakening” has been chosen to be featured in the forthcoming movie Patriot Act, a sci-fi thriller directed by Wayne Slaten about an ex-government assassin who comes out of retirement to hunt an alien responsible for killing his team.
From now until the end of time (or until too many people die for us to continue), DGT&G will be interviewing rock ‘n’ roll artists—famous, not-famous, and the vast numbers in between—and asking each the same five questions. Over time, their answers will become a repository of the heart of why people play rock music. Read on and enjoy …
1. Why do you play rock music?
Because I want to. Because it feeds the passion in my soul.
2. What else could you see yourself doing?
3. Do you have regrets about taking this path? Why? Why not?
Nope. It feels good.
4. What is your favorite part about creating & playing rock music? Why?
Creating – literally the process of creating. Creating brain children. Listening to what they have to say.
Playing – the Symbiotic relationship of the performance, that holds its own life.
5. If you could create your dream rock band, who would be in it?
AHHHHH! ONE??? hahaha. OK.
Dee Dee Ramone
and Richard Simmons dancing with BUG EYE sunglasses on.
One of many….
